Being invited wedding it is such a huge honor. To be present experiencing two people who are deeply in love with each other make a bond that will last the rest of their lives. They are inviting you to witness their most special day. In this day in age with modern technology and people trying to take pictures , videos with their phones, I pads etc. and devices of all kind.  It seems hard to  really focus on just enjoy the moment and feel the emotion that is going happening right now.  The moment.  With on line galleries and social media let the photographer handle the photography. People should just focus on being really present and watching the most special bond be created between two people occur, not worrying about getting the perfect shot, that’s what the photographer is there for. The beauty of the wedding is being there, being in that moment and having tears of joy or a smile on your face knowing that their life is now an inseparable bond.  A wedding is a day for enjoying laughs and smiling and positive emotions not stressing about getting that perfect shot with your phones or cameras, leave that up to the photographer, just enjoy yourself and that special occasion.

I have been photographing weddings for over 20 years.  I am so lucky to have female assistants who know and remind me that the Groom is very important and needs great shot just like the bride.  Although I know how important it is, it is nice to have a assistant with strong views and a different set of eyes.

Over the last 10 years grooms have much more fashion sense.  I have studies the magazines and watched the Men's Warehouse commercials and see the change.  When I got married it was get a black tux and show up.  Those days are long gone.  A good wedding photographer must have a sense of the times.  Aperture Photography has just that.  With a lot of help from my assistants.

Don't worry brides you are always the focus.  But, just a little spotlight is the Grooms.

Sometimes when I am photographing a wedding I see something so profound and toughing. I know what it like to have a daughter who I love and cherish.  I have to wonder what I would think about on my daughters wedding day.

I just wonder what dad was thinking about.  I know from experience that a daughter is always a little girl to dad.

Weddings at the Glen Sanders Mansion | Schenectady, NY

Aperture Photography http://aperturephoto.com had the honor of photographing another wedding at The Glen Sanders Mansion in Schenectady, NY just a few miles from Albany, NY.  The Glen Sanders is a historic gem.  But unlike many historic venues it is perfect for a wedding in 2014.  The  staff is incredible.  The lake in the back of the property is a photographic delight. Brides Maid in Upstate, NY

This August has been incredible !  Very Very Busy !   5 more weddings to go this month. Thank you !  The incredible heat of July really calmed down.  I got to photograph in some wonderful venues from New York to Vermont,  Poughkeepsie, Newburgh, Kingston, West Point, Vermont, Albany.  I will be in Rhinebeck then up to Saratoga in the next few days.  The wedding really looked great, I love staying busy.  It keeps me sharp.  Aperture Photography has some days left this year and is well into booking 2014.  Call or e-mail today.  We would love to photograph your wedding.  Perhaps design you a beautiful album.

This was fun ! I just love late 1900's and early 1900's buildings. Shooting weddings with the vintage buildings and wonderful period colors stir my creative juices.  Don't get me wrong I love country and mountain scences, but a change keeps a photographer fresh. Aperture Photography and more importantly the bride and groom get photographs that are stunning. The Hudson Valley has and the colors done a great job restoring the great old buildings.  Towns that 20 years ago were falling apart are now pure gems.  Here are a few shots from this weekend in Kingston, NY.  Saugerties, Hudson, Albany, Saratoga, Poughkeepsie, Beacon and all the way to Westchester have similar beauty.  Contact Aperture Photography at http://aperturephoto.com

The Love of a Father and his Daughter

As a photographer it goes without saying there are must have photographs.  But, the photographs I love most are the one you get when you just open your mind to the feeling and emotions of the day.  This weekend Aperture Photography was at the famous Anthony's Pier Nine in New Windsor New York and the day was filled with great moments. I captured some shots that made a person who has been a wedding photographer for well over 20 years stop and say to myself  " that is special"  Here is a shot of Dad the groom and his daughter.  The love needs no explanation and a picture is truly worth a thousand words.

shooting the wedding in Newburgh and stopped at the  The Grandview on the Hudson River and the photos were amazing.  They have a great location and the view was spectacular.  Then we went to the Poughkeepsie Grand.  I never say it look so beautiful.  Just perfect.  They hand made table cloths and they were works of art.  Just an amazing day !  More to come.

Black and White is just perfect for certain situations.  It is timeless and classic.  This church is located in Albany, NY and was at dusk during a driving rainstorm. It was so dark that it was hard to see.  Black and White was the perfect solution to bring out the best in this beautiful church.
